Barbara M. Goodman

July 3, 1953 — June 13, 2014

Born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1953 to Elizabeth (Gorman) Brady and William Sands, Barbara moved to Manchester, England at the age of eight. She came to the United States in 1976. She was employed, most recently, as project manager for a government consulting company. Barbara earned her bachelor's degree from Daniel Webster College in Nashua, NH.

She was an active communicant of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, and served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Barbara served for the past five years as a CORE member for the parish's Edge junior high school ministry program. She also supported the Life Teen ministries as the Food Crew Coordinator and a member of the Prayer Ministry team. Prior to moving to Carlisle, Barbara served for seven years as a CORE member of Immaculate Conception Parish's Life Teen high school ministry program. Her love of teens, the Life Teen ministries, and those that served the ministries was tireless and joy-filled. Barbara's faith was truly Eucharistic. She frequently received Christ in Holy Communion. Those around her couldn't help but experience His presence and love in and through her. She really allowed herself to be an instrument of His mission of love to others.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Joseph Goodman. She is also survived by her son, Tony W. Oliver II (Nashua, NH) and his spouse, Andrea; her daughter, Alaina D. Kakos (Danbury, CT) and her spouse, Gary; four grandchildren, Joshua, Michael and Ryan Oliver and Maryn Kakos; her mother Elizabeth Brady (Manchester, England); five siblings, Brian Sands (Manchester, England), Deirdre McKay (Denver, CO), Christopher Sands (Manchester, England), Elizabeth Jones (Manchester, England), and Geraldine Orton (Stockport, England). Additionally, she is predeceased by her father, William Sands, and step-father, Stephen Brady.

There will be a time of public visitation, from 6 to 8 PM, on Wednesday, June 18th at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA 17015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, on Thursday, June 19th at the same location, with the Very Reverend William C. Forrey, VF as the celebrant and the Reverend Leo M.
