Barbara G. B. Lillich

Barbara G. B. Lillich, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, died in her home on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024. She was 96 years old.

Born on April 12, 1928, in Cumberland County, she is the daughter of the late William Bixler Barnitz and Margaret Graham Rambo Barnitz. Tragically, her father died in an accident when she was 10 years old. Mrs. Lillich is predeceased by David O. Lillich, Jr., her husband of 60 years, and her sister Janet Rambo Barnitz.

Mrs. Lillich graduated from the National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C. and from Dickinson College in 1951 with a BA in Social Sciences. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

Barbara was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and served for many years on the altar guild. She was also a supporter of the Bosler Library and was one of the leaders of the library's cookbook project, which was a huge success. The Carlisle YMCA was another favorite organization and she served for years on its Board of Directors.

Barbara loved to entertain, and her dinner parties were legendary among her group of friends as well as with her extended family. She and her husband hosted a number of large family reunions at their farm that to this day are remembered fondly by the attendees. 

Barbara loved knitting and needlework and for 17 years owned the Needlecrafters store. She was also a member of the "Lunch Bunch", a group of women who owned local businesses or held professional positions in local organizations.

Mrs. Lillich is survived by her son, David O. Lillich, III, his wife, Joan Etherington Lillich, their daughter, Lindsay Alexander Lillich, and her husband, Kevin Martinez.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M.- 10 A.M. followed by a Celebration of Life service at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 21 S. Bedford Street, Carlisle, Pa 17013, on November 9, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. A private burial will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.
