Barbara D. Otis, age 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at her residence.
She was born on May 20, 1930 in Plattsburgh, NY to the late Horace F. and Mary Butler Davies and was the widow of the late General Glenn K. Otis, (U.S. Army Ret.) to whom she was married for 59 years and who passed on February 21, 2013.
Barbara was the wife of a U.S. Army General, traveling with him and raising a family wherever the Army took them. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was an avid antiquer, animal lover and reader.
She is survived by two daughters, Caren A. Otis of Carlisle and Nancee O. (and husband Jeffrey) Groh of Carlisle; a son, Peter G. (and wife Lisa) Otis of Richmond, VA; a sister, Sandra Quinn of Plattsburgh, NY; four grandchildren, Logan, Donovan and Tyler Groh and Emily Otis.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle with the Very Rev. William C. Forrey officiating. Private interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
