Barbara Baer, of Carlisle, passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 2 at the age of 78 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Mount Kisco, NY to the late Shaubut C. and Ruth H. (Hoffman) Walz. She was the wife of the late Jim Baer.

Barbara worked as an accounting clerk for Daily Express, a trucking company in Carlisle, for many years until her retirement. She was an active member of Lighthouse Church of God (previously Cavalry Road Church of God) in Carlisle. She enjoyed spending time with her dogs and enjoyed gardening, particularly flowers. She also enjoyed reading and time spent around her home.

Surviving are sons Gregory J. (wife Ave Maria) Baer, of Columbia, and Kirby J. Baer of New Cumberland. A brother-in-law, Phil Thompson of Harrisburg, and sister-in-law Judy Walz of Liverpool also survive her in addition to nieces Meredith Walz and Melanie Scaringi and nephews Frank Thompson and Andy Thompson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy L. Thompson and a brother, Shaubut “Bud” C. Walz III.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Lighthouse Church of God, 910 Cavalry Rd., Carlisle with The Rev. Charlene Ramirez officiating. Family will receive friends at the church during a visitation from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
