Arthur F. Sylvester, age 91, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home.
He was born November 28, 1925 in Lawrenceville, NJ to the late John and Frances (Baldwin) Sylvester and was the widower of Frances (Klim) Sylvester who passed August 6, 2007.
Arthur started employment in 1943 as a foreman for Hinamen’s Circuit Breakers and was later employed by AJAX Induction Furnace as a supervisor until he retired. He was a ham radio operator, enjoyed surf fishing, was a stained-glass artisan and was proud to have become a pilot. He enjoyed dancing, going to plays, traveling and exercising. Arthur truly enjoyed spending time with his second family, the Bradley’s, and attending their events. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle.
He is survived by: a sister, Helen (husband Ted) Furry of Newville; special friend, Sharon A. Bradley of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Arthur was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Arthur’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 2A North Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Anthony Lorenz officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family at the Lawrenceville Cemetery, NJ. There will not be a viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 2A N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
