Arlene Z. Roth, age 93, died peacefully on Thursday morning, April 9, 2015 at her residence, the Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg, PA.
Born April 4, 1922, in Lower Salford Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Waldo E.A. and Anna Groff Ziegler, and the widow of G. Book Roth. She was a 1939 graduate of Souderton (PA) High School and a 1943 graduate of Elizabethtown College.
She assisted her husband in operating the G. Book Roth Funeral Home, Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA. Formerly, she was a teacher in the Business Department of Pennsburg High School for three years, and for several years, she was secretary to the commanding officer of the former Carlisle Barracks Hospital. She was deacon in the Carlisle First Church of the Brethren where she was a member of the choir and the Women's Fellowship. She also served as church clerk. She was a member of the Executive Board of the Auxiliary to Elizabethtown College, the American Association of University Women, YWCA, Cumberland County Historical Society, and the Brethren Home Community Auxiliary.
She is survived by four children and their spouses -- Bill and wife Debbie Roth (Mobile, AL), Allen and wife Cindy Roth (Boiling Springs, PA), Connie and husband Kurt Henry (Mechanicsburg, PA), and Dean and wife Cindy Roth (Morton, PA). She is also survived by seven grandchildren - Ryan Roth and wife Jeanie, Kyle Henry, Galen Roth, Abbi Roth, Autumn Roth, Cassie Roth, and Harley Roth
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 12, 6 - 8:00 PM at the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA. The memorial service will be held Monday, April 13 at 4:00 PM at the First Church of the Brethren, 1340 Forge Rd., Carlisle, PA. Friends may visit with the family from 3 - 4:00 PM at the church. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle, PA.
