Anna B. Scott

March 20, 1948 — November 19, 2018

Anna B. Scott, “Anne,” age 70, of Carlisle, PA, died on November 19, 2018, at the Penn State
Hershey Medical Center from complications of Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Born in Chambersburg, PA, on March 20, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Merrill Reid Bivens and the late Helen Shinham Bivens, formerly of Saint Thomas, PA.
Anne was a 1966 graduate of James Buchanan Senior High School and a 1970 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she earned a B.S. degree in Education-Home Economics. She was a proud military spouse and travelled throughout the United States and overseas with her husband during his 30-year Army career. The epitome of a military officer’s wife, Anne endured 15 moves, volunteering in various positions to support soldiers and their families at each location. She was a pre-school teacher in Germany. Later she earned Department of the Army recognition while serving as the leader of a family support group of fellow spouses and children when the battalion was deployed to Egypt. She came “home” to central Pennsylvania upon her husband’s final assignment as a faculty member at the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA.
Anne was a devout Christian, compassionate and caring, who always put others before herself. She was an excellent chef and hostess, avid and talented quilter, reader and novice golfer. She greatly enjoyed teas with her daughters and best friends. Her greatest joy was to cultivate a sense of love, confidence and achievement in her five grandchildren – her legacy.
Anne is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas D. Scott, formerly of Kittanning, PA. Also surviving are daughter Emily (Geddes), husband Robert J. Geddes IV, and grandsons Robert (V), Joshua, and Michael Geddes residing in Holmes, PA. She is also survived by daughter Janet (Donovan), husband Brian P. Donovan, and grandchildren Claire and Scott Donovan, residing in Swarthmore, PA.
