Ann M. Koester, 92, of Carlisle and formerly of Scranton, PA, passed away on April, 22, 2018 at Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the widow of Robert J. Koester Sr. who passed away in March, 2017.
Ann was born in Scranton on April 3, 1926 to John and Mary (Woytach) Wielebinski. She was a graduate of Minooka High School, attended the University of Scranton and graduated from Saint Mary’s School of Nursing. As a member of the U.S. Cadet Corp program, she completed her nursing studies at the U.S. Marine Hospital in Norfolk, VA.
Ann was employed as a neonatal nurse at Mercy Hospital in Scranton until her retirement in 1987. Ann and Bob then relocated to Carlisle, and was employed as a nurse at the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ann was a member of AARP and a devoted member of Saint Patrick Church.
In addition to her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her son Robert J. Koester Jr. and three brothers; Joseph, John and Richard Wielebinski. Ann is survived by her daughter, Donna (Koester) (husband Ronald) Domenick of Carlisle, two sisters; Elizabeth (husband Joseph) Wieckowski of Scranton and Marie (husband Joseph) Coleman of Shelton, CT, four grandchildren; Amy (Domenick) (husband Jason) Whiteman of Fairfax VA, Jeffrey (wife Martine) Domenick of Bainbridge Island, WA, Kristen (Domenick) (husband Arun) Raisinghani of Wheaton IL, Robert J. (wife Mary Fran) Koester III Scranton PA. Ten great grandchildren; Tyler, Andrew and Ellison Whiteman of Fairfax, VA, Leni and Christian Domenick of Bainbridge Island, WA, Millen and Kiran Raisinghani of Wheaton, IL. James, Marion and Cate Koester of Scranton, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a public viewing on Friday, April 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd, Carlisle, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Reverend William C. Forrey, V.F. at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 28 at Saint Patrick Church, 85 Marsh Dr, Carlisle, PA. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in honor of Ann, can be made to St Patrick Church Third Century Fund, 152 E. Pomfret St, Carlisle, PA, 17013.
