Amy Arnow Robinson

April 5, 1942 — January 11, 2017

Amy Arnow Robinson, age 74, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at her home.
She was born April 5, 1942 in Washington, DC to the late Philip and Kathryn (Smul) Arnow.
Amy was a dedicated Army wife and the best mother across three continents. She used her boundless energy to create Home Sweet Home in fourteen different locations during Karl's 28-year Army Career. Amy supported everyone's activities to the max: sports, band, dance, Girl Scouts, the West Point Marathon Team, Karl's 74 marathons and numerous other races. She was a member of the Officers' Wives Club, the sisterhood of 'good women;' an avid knitter, reader, shopper, enthusiastic cook and a great friend and supporter of the West Point class of 1964. Once the girls were grown, she adopted the town of Carlisle, where she worked at the Visitor Center and volunteered for the Carlisle Theater and many Carlisle events, including her annual portrayal of Mrs. Claus at the OWC Christmas Tea. For the last 24 years, she actively supported Karl's teaching efforts, Mechanicsburg High School plays, sporting events, musicals, England student exchange trip and more. She and Karl traveled far and wide visiting family and friends. Large family gatherings were her favorite times. Wherever she lived, she was an integral part of the community and never met a stranger. A woman of many collections, primary among them, were her dearly beloved friends. Succinctly put, she was a loving and caring force of nature, and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by: her husband of 52 years, Karl W. Robinson of Carlisle; three daughters, Lisa (and husband Stuart) Deaton of Bohannon, VA, Christina Robinson and husband, Scot Zens of Thetford Center, VT and Deborah (and husband Brian) Callsen of McLean, VA; six grandchildren, Ruth and Jesse Deaton, Joshua and Maggie Callsen and Hallie and Marian Zens; and two brothers, Michael (and wife Susan Radtke) Arnow of Seattle, WA and Ethan (and wife Anne-Marie) Arnow of Brisbane, Australia.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017. Refreshments will follow in the cafeteria. Please come and share your favorite Amy story.
In lieu of flowers, Amy would appreciate donations to the Carlisle Theater or the Bosler Library in Carlisle.
