Alma Ruth Fahnestock

Alma Ruth Fahnestock, age 100, of Richland, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Richland Christian Home, Richland.
She was born May 19, 1917 in Carlisle to the late Benjamin and Ruth V. (Buffington) Lebo and was the widow of Lloyd Minnich Fahnestock who passed December 7, 1997. They had been married 61 years.
Alma and her husband were longtime former members of Lower Cumberland Church of the Brethren. She was a devoted wife and mother, who pledged her time and skill in running the family farm, quilting, making braided rugs and clothes for the family. As well, she was an exceptionally talented shuttle tatter. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling with family up and down the east coast, even into Nova Scotia, and camping trips in Fort Myers, FL. She especially loved returning home, where her favorite birds, the cardinals, would be waiting to greet her.
She is survived by: sons, L. Roy Fahnestock (wife Rosella), Dale B. Fahnestock (wife Elsie), and Dean Fahnestock (wife Barbara); a daughter, Ruth N. Miller (husband Lynn); sixteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren (with three on the way); and four great-great-grandchildren; as well as a daughter in law, Mary Anne Fahnestock; and sister in law, Fern M. Ness. In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by: sons, Paul L. and John A. Fahnestock; a granddaughter, Sheryl M. Fahnestock; a brother, Paul B. Lebo; and a brother in law, Jacob Ness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA, with Ministers Garnet H. Myers and Robert Leheigh officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Churchtown, Boiling Springs, PA. A viewing will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the funeral home, and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. service time.
