Allan L. Macdonald, Sr.

Allan L. Macdonald, Sr., age 92, of Newville, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Green Ridge Village.
He was born February 14, 1925 in Linden, NJ to the late George and Caroline (Hartenstein) Macdonald.
Allan honorably served his country as an Aviation Machinist Mate in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an avid reader and loved to camp all over the United States. He was involved for 89 years as a leader with Boy Scouts of America, Troop 174 of Newville. He was a member of: American Legion Post 421 of Newville; Friendship Hose & Ambulance Co. 47; AARP of PA; Disabled American Veterans; International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers, Lodge 329; and was involved with Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare.
He is survived by: his wife, Edith (Krehbiel) Macdonald of Newville; four sons, Allan Macdonald, Jr. of Newville, Brian Macdonald of Brick, George (wife Melissa) Macdonald of Purcellville, VA and James Macdonald of Doraville, GA; a daughter, Edith Macdonald of Clifton, NJ; and a great-granddaughter, Annabelle Macdonald of Purcellville, VA. In addition to his parents, Allan was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
