Alice E. Wheatley

Alice E. Wheatley, age 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Claremont Nursing & Rehab Center, Carlisle.
She was born on February 27, 1930 in Stockton, CA to the late Malcolm and Edna Truman Eiselen.
She was a graduate of Stockton High School where she played violin in the school orchestra and was Editor of the school yearbook. She also graduated from College of the Pacific in Stockton and received her Master's in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She later taught 1st grade in Ann Arbor, MI. Her teaching methods and innovative curriculum were ahead of their time. She was awarded a year-long sabbatical to create a human development curriculum. Alice was an avid gardener and was President of the Huron Valley Rose Society. She loved photography and spent hundreds of hours compiling photo albums for family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ira M. Wheatley of Carlisle; children, Krista (and husband Bill) Wheatley-Heckman of Columbia, MD, Kevin Wheatley of Dayton, OH, Kennedy Wheatley of Los Angeles, CA and Karl (and wife Amy) Wheatley of Lakewood, OH; six grandchildren, Annika, Jeffrey and Shobha Wheatley-Heckman, David and Katherine Wheatley and Elena Wheatley; brother, Everett (and wife Cherie) Eiselen of Cambria, CA and sister-in-law, Claire Eiselen. She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Eiselen, formerly of Rochester, NY.
A Celebration of Alice's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
