Alice C. "Sis" Mccartney

Alice C. “Sis” McCartney, age 91, of Carlisle, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
She was born March 20, 1926 in Wertzville, PA to the late Calvin G. and Alice C. (Messinger) Cook and was the widow of William J. McCartney who passed August 15, 2004.
Alice was an active member of Carlisle United Methodist Church and she enjoyed traveling with her late husband.
She is survived by: three daughters, Joanne Blessing of Carlisle, Sharon (husband Eric) Minich of Carlisle and Barbara (husband Glenn) McDowell of Toms River, NJ; a son, James (wife Sharon) McCartney of Dixon, MO; two brothers, David (wife Anna) Cook of York Springs and Russel (wife Marie) Cook of Carlisle; three sisters, Clara McCoy of Carlisle, Patricia Shannon of Mt. Holly Springs and Dorris Clatterbuck of Gardners; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by: a baby son, William R. McCartney; four brothers, Harvey, Charles, Calvin Jr. and Richard Cook; and two sisters, Marie Diffenderfer and Joan Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Enola, PA. There will be a viewing on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
