Alec E. Shover, 21, of Boiling Springs, PA, passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2018. Alec was born on May 25, 1997 to Greg and Heidi Shover of Carlisle, PA. He was a 2015 graduate of Boiling Springs High School, and was employed by Carlisle Syntec in Carlisle, PA.
Alec was a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, who cared deeply for all who were close to him. While growing up, he enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, and more recently, lifting weights and working out. He loved cars, trucks, and motorcycles, especially his street bike and lifted pickup truck. He enjoyed being with his friends and his alone time. He always seemed to bring a smile and laughter to anyone he was around.
Alec enjoyed summer get togethers and Christmas Eve bashes with friends and family. He was a PS4 gamer who loved to rent movies. He loved spending time with his girlfriend, Ginna Ventrella. He was a compassionate individual who took time to care for his late Memaw. Alec, also, had a love for dogs. He was a doting brother to his little sister, Abbi, and always loved to see his niece, Paisley.
Alec is survived by his parents, sister, and girlfriend. He is also survived by his sister, Ashley Gorsuch; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Norma Shover; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Linda Goodyear, and his dog, Hurley.
Many of Alec’s friends did not know he suffered from depression. Throughout the years, he tried different ways to cope, and although he was a happy young man, he had his ups and downs. He never would have wanted others to suffer and endure such heartache; however, his struggle became too great.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 28 at 4:00 pm at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastor Brian Warner officiating. A visitation will be held between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
