Albert L. Hoffmanner, 83, of Carlisle, formerly of Lake Somerset, MI, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Church of God Home.
He was born July 5, 1936 in Delaware County, PA to the late Henry and Katherine (Schmidt) Hoffmanner and was the widower of Nancy (Kupstas) Hoffmanner.
Albert received a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and Master’s and PhD degrees from Carnegie Mellon both in Engineering/Material Science. He led research teams at TRW and Battelle Memorial Institute and held various executive positions in engineering and product development in the automotive industry in Detroit. He was raised in Chester County, PA and then lived in Mentor, OH, Worthington, OH, Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Lake Somerset, MI. He served in various roles at the Lake Somerset Property Owner’s Association and coordinated water quality on the lake for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors- the water, hiking and his beloved Labrador Retrievers.
Albert is survived by his sons, Alan (wife Diane) Hoffmanner of San Marcos, CA, and Mark Hoffmanner of Carlisle, PA; daughter, Carolyn Hoffmanner of Coldwater, MI; grandchildren, Graham Hoffmanner, Haleigh Guerrero and Elizabeth Brendle; great grandchildren Clark and Everly Guerrero of Salt Lake City, UT and niece, Karen Hoffmanner of Glen Rock, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy (Kupstas) Hoffmanner; brother, Henry G. Hoffmanner; and sister, Sonny Marlis Beechwood.
