Agnes Perkins passed away April 2, 2025, at the age of 79 after a long illness.
Born in Lewiston, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Francoise (Veilleux) Curran.
A graduate of Bates College, Agnes spent years working as a teacher and school principal before going on to earn a master’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University and embarking on a second career as a therapist.
Over the course of her life, she lived in many places, including Maine, Italy, Boston, Texas, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Agnes loved life and had a wonderful sense of humor, a gentle spirit, and a kind word for everyone. She was a brilliant woman who enjoyed reading, learning, spending time at the ocean, traveling, and trying new things. But her very favorite thing was simply spending time with her family and friends.
Agnes was the most wonderful wife, mother, and friend. She made everyone, especially her family and friends, feel special and important. She was a lifelong friend to animals and loved volunteering. The world is a much sadder place without Agnes in it. She was one of a kind and will be terribly missed by so many.
Agnes is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert, daughters: Annie and Daya, sons-in-law: Colby and Eric, granddaughters: Quonna, Unique, and Priya, and canine companion Percy. She also leaves behind four brothers and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
