Adam J. “Addieâ€Â Mackel, 81, of Carlisle, died Friday, March 30, 2012, in his home.

Born July 25, 1930, in Shamokin, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pauline A. (Stadnicki) Mackel.

Addie was well known as a dog breeder in the Carlisle area. He loved trips to the beach, gardening, fishing and carpentry, especially cabinetry.

Adam was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Baran) Mackel of Carlisle; his son, James Mackel and wife Jayne of Goshen, Conn.; four sisters, Rita Boshinski and husband Edwin of Englewood, Ohio, Antoinette Clifford of Dayton, Ohio, Adeline Zyla and husband Edward of Elysburg and Joann Willis and husband Robert of Centerville, Ohio; and six grandchildren, James, Danielle, Emily, Eddie, Jauneen and Jordon.

In addition to his parents, ee was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemarie Mackel.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, with Rev. William C. Forrey officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 219 N. Hanover St. Carlisle and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the church.
