Paul E. Rice, 86, of Carlisle, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born January 14, 1925 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Davidson and Mary Eckenrode Rice.
He owned and operated his own TV and electronics business, Rice’s TV and Electronics in Carlisle and had 30 years service at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg with electronics. Paul was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle where he served as a longtime usher. He was an avid outdoorsman who was passionate about following his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. He was a US Army veteran who served during WWII.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mary E. Wolfgong Rice of Carlisle; one daughter, Carol Brandt (and husband, Art) of Carlisle; three grandchildren: William Brandt of Carlisle, Dana Walker (and husband, Travis) of Carlisle and Elisha Rosa (and husband, Jonathan) of NC; five great-grandchildren: Zachary and Tyler Brandt, Bryce Walker and Michael and Matthew Rosa; four sisters: Miriam Shulenberger of Carlisle, Violet Lebo of Carlisle, Evelyn Wolfe of Waynesboro and Marie Hinkel of Carlisle and one brother, Clair Rice of Mechanicsburg. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Clippinger.
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 East High Street, Carlisle with Rev. Charles A. Brophy officiating. A private burial will be held in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
