Josephine Hemmingson Marwick

Jo Marwick, 92, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Hospice of Central PA,
Harrisburg, PA. Born April 30, 1919, in Davenport, Iowa, Jo graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL, pledged Pi Beta Phi Sorority, and married Alfred Marwick, whom she met on campus. They were married 57 years before his 1999 death.
Family and friends fondly remember her infectious smiles, resilience, putting others at ease, and welcoming Midwestern style. She loved activities with grandkids, family, church groups, bridge, traveling, Elderhostel adventuring, and her sorority.
Jo's parents were the late Elmer and Hazel Wiesener Hemmingson of Moline, IL. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy DeMuth, Ph.D., and her husband Donald of Carlisle, PA, and a son Bruce Marwick and his wife Silvia of Sacramento, CA. Her grandchildren are: Drew DeMuth of New York City; Lance DeMuth of Portland, OR, and Isabel Marwick of Sacramento, CA.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at the 2nd Presbyterian
Church, Carlisle, PA, on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.
