Harold G. Barrick, 87, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Thornwald Home.
He was born June 11, 1934, in Carlisle to the late George Ambrose and Esther Elizabeth (Killinger) Barrick. Harold was the widower of Fay L. (Zeigler) Barrick to whom he had been married for 64 years before she passed in 2020.
He was a graduate of Carlisle High School. Harold worked at REA Express, Inc. for 20 years before retiring, served 36 years in the PA Army National Guard before retiring, worked as a dispatcher and part time in security at Dickinson College, and worked for the Carlisle Regional Special Police since 1987. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed listening to old country and gospel music, reading the newspaper, watching the news, and having a bowl of ice cream. Harold took great pride in how his home looked and spent a lot of time gardening and caring for his lawn. He was a member of the Gobin Guard, VFW Post #477, American Legion Post 101, the Cumberland County Fire Police Association, and the Pennsylvania State Fire Police Association. Harold was also an assistant scout master for Troop 325 and was the recipient of an award from The Order of The Arrow for his service.
Harold is survived by his five children, Robin (husband Tim) Rhyne of Fairlawn, VA, Jeffrey (wife Jane) Barrick of Shippensburg, Vonda (husband Harry) Shughart of Carlisle, Stephen (wife Marty) Barrick of Newville, and Brian Barrick of Shippensburg; five siblings, Louise, Pearl, Fay, Larry, Lee; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one great-grandson and six siblings.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
